Haircare Heroes: Kerastase
My hair journey has been eventful, to say the least. From bleaching it within an inch of its life to box-dyeing it black, both my hair and I have been on a path of self-discovery. This seemingly never-ending quest for the ‘perfect’ hair has, fortunately, left me quite the expert in all things haircare. I know tricks for the shiniest tresses and which luxury shampoos are actually worth the price tag.
Some people may choose to skip the oils, lotions and serums, but I’ll bet almost everyone uses some form shampoo or conditioner. Therefore, it could be easy to think that something this simple should also be simple to buy. But, unfortunately, that is not the case. The market is saturated with thousands of different brands, each claiming they offer the best thing for you and your hair. They all compete on price and quality and use a host of complicated jargon, such as sulfates, parabens and humectants, to confuse you into buying the first one you see. This is where I come in. I have spent the past few years trying out every brand I could get my hands on, read reviews about or simply seen advertised, to ensure I am using the best ones for my hair. And, I have found the answer.
Kerastase.
I started with their classic ’Nutritive - Bain Satin Riche’ range, as this seems like the best catch-all solution. It is aimed at dry hair and focuses on cleansing it while replenishing moisture and softness. Paired with the ‘Nutritive - Masquintense’, it certainly did the job!
My once lacklustre locks were tranformed into soft, shiny and hydrated, thanks to Kerastsase’s plant-based proteins and niacinamide ingredients. After one wash, I was hooked!
Once I finished this range, I took it upon myself to really get to know all the ranges and choose the best one for my hair goals. It can be complicated at first, but it is so worth it. Taking the time to investigate means you won’t be wasting any money on a range that doesn’t work for you.
Personally, I love the ‘Resistance Bain Force Architecte’ range. This is ideal for my bleached, broken ends. It works to prevent breakage and split ends, so my hair started growing rather than snapping off at my shoulders. I use this in tandem with the ‘Elixir Ultime Bain’ shampoo, which adds shine and gloss to my hair. It actually removes dulling-elements, such as pollution particles, from the hair, which is perfect if, like me, you live in the city.
I’ve also upgraded to the ‘Nutritive - Masquintense Riche’. This is a more powerful version of the first one I tried as it is aimed at thicker hair.
Overall, since investing in Kerastase, my hair has come in leaps and bounds. It is healthy, shiny and soft. I feel more confident and, as I am not going to stop bleaching my hair any time soon, less guilty about it!
