What’s In My Bag?

If, like me, you've been following the online beauty scene for a while, you've probably come across a 'what's in my bag' video.

This trend started over a decade ago, with Youtube stars such as Zoella, Tanya Burr and Ingrid Nilsen all taking part. Audiences across the globe were transfixed by what seems like a mundane topic, but in reality, allows us to see into the minds and lives of people we put on a pedestal.

More recently, this trend is still captivating fans, in the form of Vogue’s ‘In The Bag’ series. This showcases A-listers personal (often designer) handbags, allowing us to see what they carry with them on a daily basis. The most recent one, “Inside Zayn Malik’s Fendi Duffle Bag”, is a unique chance for audiences to get to know the very private singer in a casual, friendly and entertaining setting.

“Inside Florence Pugh’s Valentino Tote” permits us to see more of her playful character and understand her lifestyle. She carries British tea around with her every day as this is often unavailable when she is making a film in Hollywood. We understand she likes to eat spicy food, as she has a travel-sized sriracha bottle clipped onto her handbag. It’s fun, different and perfect for us nosey watchers!

So, I have collated a list of my own handbag essentials. I may not be in a Grammy-award winning band, or have several Oscars to my name, but I know my stuff when it comes to daily necessities.

My everyday bag is the Longchamp Le Pliage Original Large Shoulder Bag. It fits in everything I need, while looking stylish and sophisticated.

Noise cancelling headphones:

I cannot leave my house without these. I am a massive music (especially Fleetwood Mac) lover, so I cannot go about my commute, walk to the shops or long train-journey without them! In my opinion, the Sony WH-1000XM4 are the best. Apple’s AirPod Max are very good, but their price point does not match up to Sony’s. The noise cancelation is a must-have if, like me, you catch the tube everyday!

Lip balm:

My number one beauty non-negotiable is lip balm. I carry both the Summer Fridays ‘Vanilla’ and ‘Pink Sugar’, so I have a clear and tinted option. Wearing lip balm makes me feel slightly more put-together on days I am definitely not, and is the finishing touch when I am! Additionally, I get quite dry hands, so lip balm doubles up as hand salve in a pinch.

Mini Perfume:

Finally, a travel-sized perfume is always in my bag. I am a perfume addict. So much so, that I use The Fragrance Shop’s ‘Scent Addict’ subscription. This means that I get a monthly atomiser filled with the perfume of my choice, allowing me to smell good on the go! Moreover, I also love buying discovery sets, such as the Juliette Has A Gun one, as they mean I have a selection of mini perfumes available for me to pop in my bag.

Overall, though I may not share the same fame as celebrities, my handbag essentials are thoughtfully chosen to keep me stylish and ready for anything.
